A group of scientists formed by specialists from several U.S. universities like Harvard and the University of Chicago, concluded that loneliness is contagious within social groups. Reflect this conclusion in a scientific research article published in academic psychology journal The Journal of Personality and Social Psychology.
“We found a remarkable pattern of contagion that causes people, when they feel alone, are marginalized from social networks,” says Dr. John Cacioppo, who led the study at the University of Chicago, reports the British broadcaster BBC its Spanish-language news portal.
The way that becomes contagious loneliness is related to the breakdown of social and emotional ties between people.
